RIK Island Camp
 RISF
sponsors a summer day camp at the Park Monday through Friday
from early July through mid-August. Eash Summer, we
welcome approximately 5,000 campers from neighboring community-based
organizations. They participate in a program offering
4 daily sessions of free instruction in a variety of sports
including softball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, horseback
riding, disc golf and fitness training and participate in
nature workshops.
Camp Director Lou Schlanger and his staff work in conjunction
with CBO staff to emphasize the importance of good sportsmanship
and teamwork in the process of learning a sport. A Good
Sportsmanship Award is presented to all campers at the end
of the summer.
Community based organizations interested in further information
can contact RISF at (212) 860-1899. Transportation must
be provided by the CBO. Campers attending for the full day
can bring a picnic lunch to eat at the Park.
